Began the first of our daily journal writing prompts. This will be an on-going, semester-long project, so you will be expected to make up any missed days. Class will begin with a writing prompt displayed on the board. Once the bell rings, you are expected to get straight to work, silently writing until you hear the timer ring. (We will typically be writing for 5-10 minutes per day.) The prompts are meant to inspire you: you should try to address the prompt, but if you feel like writing about something else, that is absolutely fine. Here is the caveat: You MUST write the entire time, even if you don't know what to say. If you don't know what to say (and you can't come up with your own alternative), you should attempt "automatic writing," which is writing whatever is in your head, even if you are writing something like, "I don't know what to write, I don't know what to write, I don't like this prompt, I'm thinking about my math homework..." Doing this exercise will allow you to empty yourself of whatever thoughts are preventing you from writing on command, and you will find that you ARE able to write after a time. You will receive credit if your entry is just an automatic response, but only if it is every once in a while. If the majority of your entries are like this, you are not making a real attempt at writing, and you will not receive credit. For now, your entries will be handwritten, and will be submitted all at once, perhaps a week or two weeks at a time. Make sure you write your name on each page, and label each entry with the appropriate date. If an entry is unlabeled, it will receive a zero, Keep these in a folder or notebook for submission later. Ultimately, these journal entries will be composed daily on Chromebooks and submitted to Turnitin.com. Please find the first prompt below. Today we...
realized our class rosters were completely shuffled around, and 1st period jumped from 27 students to 31! We were challenged by Mrs. Hopkins to come up with a floor plan/desk arrangement that would include 4 additional desks, and still accommodate everyone comfortably with room for movement around the classroom. We were successful! Tomorrow be ready to start the new classroom procedure of writing immediately upon entry. Look to the smartboard for instructions/prompts. Today is our final exam for LA10. Below please find the document you will use to write your final. It must be submitted at the end of the final exam period this afternoon on Turnitin.com
