How to use this website
This page has been specifically designed as a resource for all of your LA needs and should, if all goes well, end up being a useful and helpful tool to make your already-hectic life a bit more manageable. Each grade level page will be updated daily.
To navigate this site, please note on the top of the page the three sections: Home, LA9, and LA10. The Home page is the page you are currently on, and contains general information you need to know. This page will remain the same for the entire school year.
LA9 and LA10: Each of these pages includes a daily blog for everything concerning my (separate) 9th and 10th grade Language Arts classes: assignments, projects, deadlines, tests, and outside reading. Hover over the link for an additional link to course information and the class syllabus.

So, who exactly is Mrs. Hopkins?
2016-2017 marks my third year at Mount Si High School, and my fourth full year as a teacher. I am STILL very excited to be here, especially since the sophomores I had my first year here are now SENIORS!
I am originally from California (Sonoma Valley, wine country), and relocated to the Pacific Northwest for college. I did my undergraduate work at Seattle University, pursuing my BA in English Literature. While there, I was on the staff of the literary magazine Fragments, won several poetry contests, and graduated cum laude.
After I spent several years perfecting my social skills in the hospitality industry, I returned to school to become a teacher. Teaching is in my blood (the number of teachers in my family exceeds my available counting fingers), and I loved graduate school, earning my MA in Education, beginning at Seattle University and finishing up at University of Phoenix.
Outside of school, I am married to a football fanatic. We are carefully raising our three daughters (ages 14--a freshman this year!, 11--starting middle school this year!, and 4--starting pre-school this year!) to be similarly obsessed (weekends in the fall are spent watching the UW Huskies and Seattle Seahawks and practicing cheers). Of course, I love to read, I occasionally write, and I may or may not have an unhealthy penchant for cooking shows.
