Writing prompt is below. Today we continued our class "voting" and discussion from our anticipation guide from yesterday. Mrs. Hopkins compiled the responses into the totally (not) so easy to read chart below. Look it over when you have a chance...and see if your peers responded in the same why in front of the class as they did on an "anonymous" survey. Tonight, you will write a reflection on our two-day discussion, and submit to Turnitin.com (will be due at the beginning of class). Please answer the following questions: 1) Based on y our responses to the anticipation guide, and the discussion with your classmates, are you looking forward to reading this novel? 2) How would you feel about being stranded on a desert island with this group of your peers? (That means: 1st period, you guys are stuck together, and 2nd period, you are also stuck with each other--on a totally separate island, of course!) 3) What do you think is going to happen in the book? What predictions can you make? (Hint: saying "kids stuck on a desert island" is not a prediction.) What will you look for to confirm your beliefs/predictions? What if your beliefs/predictions begin to change?

We did have a writing prompt today! Please see below: we are on Week #15.
We filled out the following anticipation guide and submitted to Turnitin.com. Click this link for the Lord of the Flies Anticipation Guide We then "voted with our feet", dividing sides of the classroom into "agree" or "disagree", and used the anticipation guide to see where our peers voted on each issue. Let's write some perfect paragraphs, okay?
Please click this link for info on a works cited page. This will be due on Sunday at 11:59pm online. Introduction to our final for The Catcher in the Rye: writing the perfect paragraph. Please find instructions below. Also below are the paragraph writes we did together in class,
(There will not be any writing prompts this week.)
We did a reading check on the end of the book (please see Mrs. Hopkins to make this up) and submitted it to turnitin.com. We watched this awesome video from the "Thug Notes" YouTube series, analyzing The Catcher in the Rye. We also re-watched the Crash Course videos. Then, we hand-wrote a reflection on the novel: 1) Was it helpful to watch the videos up front? 2) What do you think about the novel? What did you think about the ending. We turned these in to Mrs. Hopkins. After an exhausting finish to the ELA exam, Mrs. Hopkins read Catcher aloud, starting with Chapter 21. Please finish reading the novel over the long weekend (through Chapter 26).
Monday: CAT testing (reading comprehension) in the morning and a reading check for Chapters 15-20 during regular class time.
Tuesday: Beginning the PT testing (essay writing) in the morning. We did not meet for regular class today. ***There will not be any writing prompts this week. We wrote, and then submitted Week #13 Daily Writes to Turnitin.com.
