Today we received a copy of the Literary Paragraph Check, which is due Friday during class. Essentially you will be scoring yourself according to the check list, and then justifying your score on the page of the page.
Reminder that paragraphs are due on Friday by 4pm. We then continued with speech presentations. Today we revised our thesis statements for the rhetorical paragraph, and then heard speech presentations. Please see below for photos of revisions and final statements. 1st Period - Before1st Period - Revised1st Period - Final Thesis Statement**This is the thesis statement/topic sentence you are required to use for the paragraph that is due Friday: Patrick Henry, Thomas Paine, and Thomas Jefferson use [choose ONE appeal] to persuade the American colonists to bear arms in a revolution against the tyranny of King George. 5th Period - Before5th Period - Revised5th Period - Final Thesis Statement**This is the thesis statement/topic sentence you are required to use for the paragraph that is due Friday:
Patrick Henry's "Speech to the Virginia Convention," Thomas Jefferson's Declaration of Independence, and Thomas Paine's "The Crisis" pamphlet use [choose ONE appeal] to inspire the American colonists to ignite a revolution in order to liberate themselves from the tyrannical grasp of King George. Today we watched an AMAZING music video on the Declaration of Independence: T.J. and the Revo: Too Late to Apologize: A Declaration.
We received our Age of Reason Synthesis Paragraph Assignment and began working on writing the thesis statement together as a class. (Please see pictures below for each class.) The paragraph is due this Friday, December 18, 2015 online by 4pm. In addition to submitting the paragraph online, you are also expected to evaluate yourself using the Age of Reason Synthesis Paragraph Check and turn that in to Mrs. Hopkins as well. There will be additional requirements for you to write on the back, so don't turn it in without following all directions that will be given later this week. Speech presentations will begin tomorrow. Please submit your speech online to Turnitin.com. Final work time on speeches. We will begin presenting on Tuesday.
School closed both days due to inclement weather and power outages.
Work time on Real World Speeches. Review with a partner. Went over evaluation ballots and presentation expectations. Speech presentations begin on Monday: extra credit for those students willing to go first.
Today we presented speech proposals, and voted on what speeches we wanted to hear.
Please have a draft of your speech ready for Monday. SURPRISE! |
