Today we took Vocab Quiz #5.
Then, submitted the first draft of the Puritanism essay to Turnintin.com...and then participated in Writer's Workshop (WWS) for the first time. We worked in groups of three to peer review their essays. Writer’s Workshop “PowerPoint” Instructions: http://bit.ly/1GxFrn8 When there is about ten minutes left in the period, we displayed the instructions below for the WWS written reflection. This must be turned into the basket at the end of the period, and is the proof that students participated in WWS. Writer’s Workshop Reflection Instructions: http://bit.ly/1LCGcu4 No homework for this evening. Today we submitted our outlines to Turnitin.com, and began working on our rough drafts. Drafts will be due tomorrow at the beginning of class. Be prepared to do peer editing in Writer's Workshop. We briefly went over creating a works cited page using our textbook. Please see document below.
Today Mrs. Hopkins checked us off on our prompt brainstorms.
Remember: without all five components turned in, you are not eligible for a grade on the final. You will receive an automatic zero. In class we picked a prompt that we want to use for our essay, and began work on our outlines. Outlines will be submitted to Turnitin.com tomorrow at the beginning of class. Finish outlines for homework. Today we took a quiz on Acts 3 & 4. We were then introduced to the synthesis essay assignment for this unit, as well as a brief (super brief) intro to 2+1 chunks. Please see below for both documents. One of the important things to note about this essay is that there are five required components:
Homework: Brainstorm responses for all three prompts. This will be due tomorrow. You must include reference to some concrete details. Handwritten or typed is fine, but you must have a print out.
Today we took a quiz on Acts I and II of The Crucible.
We then continued our reading of the play with Act III. Your homework over the weekend is to finish the play (Acts III and IV). It should take you perhaps half an hour. There will be a quiz on Monday. Vocabulary will be on Wednesday. Today we completed the District Writing Assessment!
Don't forget, you need to submit your finished essay to the school's Turnitin.com account. You need to sign up for a new class: Class ID: 10879562 Password: Junior VERY IMPORTANT: Title your submission title by your LA teacher’s last name, class period. EX. Hopkins 1 or Hopkins 5 This is the only way we will be able to find your essay out of the entire 11th grade. If you mislabel, we won't see it, and you won't be counted and will get a zero. And now for the good news! You're done with this assessment! YAY! And you have homework! YAY! Tonight, for homework, you need to finish reading Act II of The Crucible. You can access the PDF under the Unit #1 Resources drop-down menu. Here is where we are at based on class period: 1st Period: Elizabeth has just said, "Adultery, John." Page 71 of the PDF. Act III starts on page 86. 5th Period: Proctor has just said: "I never knew until tonight that the world is gone daft with this nonsense!" Page 72 of the PDF. Act III starts on page 86. There will be a quiz tomorrow on Acts I and II. Please review and study. Today we continued working on the DWA.
